About CHAI content

This project is an independent implementation. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI).

  • The six-stage lifecycle (define, design, engineer, assess, pilot, deploy and monitor) and the five principles are modeled on CHAI's published lifecycle approach; we could not retrieve CHAI's Assurance Standards Guide to check them against it. The four checkpoints, their placement (after stages 1, 4, 5 and 6) and their questions are this project's rendering of CHAI's go/no-go decision points, not a structure taken from CHAI.
  • The checklist criteria in this tool are original, paraphrased summaries written for this project. They are not the text of CHAI's Responsible AI Checklist.
  • CHAI's use-case Testing & Evaluation Frameworks are published under CC BY 4.0, which permits reproduction with attribution. Their metric names, benchmarks and descriptions ARE reproduced in this tool and on CHAI metrics, attributed to CHAI.
  • The dashboard shows CHAI-derived wording, and the names of CHAI's suggested metrics, in languages other than English. Those are machine-drafted, unofficial translations of this project's English text (a fluent reader reviewed and approved Simplified Chinese for 9 of its 20 safety-bearing strings, and the rest of its catalog is machine-drafted), and each screen that shows one says so. A record always stores the English. The metric names are CHAI's, so the translated screens also say that the names were translated, which is the indication of changes CC BY 4.0 asks for.
  • The model card uses the section and field names of the CHAI Applied Model Card template (Draft Nov 2024, v0.1).

CHAI's own files do not state one license for the model card

As checked on 2026-10-12: the v0.1 documentation PDF (mc.chai.org/v0.1/documentation.pdf) links CC BY-ND 4.0 (Attribution, No Derivatives). CHAI's mc-schema repository carries a different, permissive license that allows modification and derivative works. CHAI's registry page for the card says "All rights reserved". A standalone template PDF was reported to carry CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, but that file is no longer at its old address and we could not confirm it. We have not resolved which governs.

This tool uses the template's section and field names to structure output it generates itself, and does not redistribute CHAI's document. Before you distribute a modified model card or something closer to CHAI's template, confirm the terms with CHAI or your counsel. The Apache 2.0 license on this repository covers this project's own code and prose. It cannot and does not relicense CHAI's material.

Reports generated by this tool are internal governance records. They are not certifications, legal opinions, or regulatory determinations.
